The Artist
Hazel Menacho
Hazel Menacho is a fiber artist working from Costa Rica, where the cloud forests, highland valleys, and volcanic ridgelines are a constant presence. She translates those landscapes into thread — building each scene stitch by stitch until mist, grass, and forest take on a texture no brush can achieve.
Every piece begins with studies made outdoors and becomes a painstaking hand embroidery: layered French knots for dense canopy, long golden floss for windblown grass, and whisper-fine thread-painting where the mountains dissolve into fog. The result is a landscape you can almost feel.
Each original is one of a kind. When a piece finds its home, the image lives on as a limited fine-art print — but the embroidery itself is singular, and yours alone.
